Create & Run a CaseStudio Session

CaseStudio turns a traditional case into an interactive learning experience. Faculty can choose a case from the MSgames library, generate a new case, or upload their own case, and then launch it as a CaseStudio experience for participants.

1. Open CaseStudio

Log in to your MSgames instructor account and open CaseStudio from the dashboard.

The Case Studio Library is where you can manage your cases and create learning experiences. From here, you can search for cases, filter them, open existing cases, or add a new case.

2. Choose How You Want to Create Your Case

CaseStudio gives you three ways to get started.

Catalogue

Use Catalogue to browse cases from the MSgames library.

You can search by title or learning objectives and browse the available cases. Each case provides information such as its domain, level, description, and learning objectives.

Open a case to review its details before launching the experience.

Case Engine

Use Case Engine to generate a new case based on your course requirements.

Start by entering the course name and selecting the programme level. Then add the learning objectives you want the case to address. You can add multiple learning objectives to guide the case generation.

Once the details are ready, select Generate Case. Case Engine uses the course context, programme level, and learning objectives you provide to generate the case. After it is generated, review the case before launching it as a CaseStudio experience.

Custom

Use Custom when you want to upload your own case.

Enter the case title and, if required, a description. Upload your case study as a PDF. You can also upload a teaching note if you have one.

3. Review Your Case

Before launching an experience, review the case you have selected or created.

Depending on how the case was created, you may see information such as the case description, domain, learning objectives, and protagonists.

Use this information to make sure the case is appropriate for your course and learning objectives.

4. Launch the Experience

When you are ready, select Launch on the case.

You can launch an experience from a case selected from the Catalogue, generated through Case Engine, or uploaded through Custom.

The case is now ready to be used as a CaseStudio learning experience.

5. Create and Configure Your Session

After launching the experience, create a session for the participants who will be taking part.

Configure the available session settings according to your course and the requirements of the selected case. You can also enable proctoring for the session where required.

The exact options available may vary depending on the case and experience.

6. Share the Session Code

Once your session is ready, MSgames provides a session code. Share this code with your students, players, or participants so they can join the experience.

You can also invite participants by email directly through the platform. Add their email addresses individually or upload the required participant details using the available spreadsheet option.

7. Participants Join the Experience

Participants log in to MSgames using the student login option.

From their dashboard, they select Join a Game, enter the session code provided by the instructor, and join the CaseStudio experience.

Before starting, make sure the participants you expect have successfully joined the session.

8. Run the CaseStudio Experience

Once everyone has joined, they can click join session and begin the experience.

As the instructor, facilitate the session and provide clarification when needed.

9. Review the Experience and Debrief

After the experience, review the available results and use them to support your classroom discussion.

Use the case experience to discuss what participants observed, the decisions they made, the reasoning behind those decisions, and what they would do differently.

The Teaching Note, when available, can also support your preparation and classroom debrief.
